I was born in raised in a small town in northern Minnesota. After graduating high school I attended the University of Minnesota at Moorhead. After visiting Rapid City during the winter months of 1993, Lori, my future wife, and I decided that the 60 degree weather of Rapid City was a bit better than the -20 of Fargo Moorhead. We moved to Rapid City in 1993 and never looked back.
I am very fortunate to have a great wife and family. After meeting Lori at college we married in May 2004. She is currently a 4th grade teacher at Douglas School Dist and has been there since Sept 1994. Out first child, Allie, was born in 1997. She is a tremendous student athlete. She is currently playing on Rushmore Thunder Girls Varsity Hockey Team. She is the starting right wing. When not on the ice, you can find her striking out batters as a pitcher for the Flames Fastpitch Softball team. Our second child, Mitch, was born in 2000. He is turning in to a mini me. School comes very easy for him. He currently plays football, hockey and golf. His specialty is in hockey as a goalie - they always say that there is something missing upstairs to stand in front of flying pucks!!
I started in the mortgage industry in 2000. I came to Affiliated in 2002 and became an owner in 2005. I have always said I would never have a "job." When you love your work it is not a job. Life is too short not to love what you do for a career. Even with all the recent changes in the banking industry it is still great being in the mortgage industry. It is so fulfilling to assist home buyers in purchasing a new home or assisting current home owners in improving their financial situation during a refinance.
I am active in my children's activities. I have coached the girls varsity hockey team since the 2007-2008 season, my son's hockey teams since 2005, along with his football team. I also am the head coach for the Flames Fastpitch team and have coached fastpitch softball since 2003. I have also coached fastpitch for RC Central, Harney Little League, and tried to help with youth soccer. Soccer - not my thing nor my kids. I love helping teach young athlete not only the game but how to cope with life lessons along with winning and how to handle losing.
I am also a member of RC Chamber of Commerce, Black Hills Home Builders Association, currently serving on the Board of Directors for Rushmore Thunder Hockey Association and a past Board of Directors for ASA Softball Association.
